| The House just plunged into chaos with an increasing chance of a government shutdown after an insurrection this morning during a GOP meeting. What happened: Rank-and-file Republicans are now expressing outrage that the Senate-passed seven-week spending bill does not include disaster relief or $5 billion in border wall funding. http://bit.ly/2R8TwRT And Trump escalated things: The president tweeted, "When I begrudgingly signed the Omnibus Bill, I was promised the Wall and Border Security by leadership. Would be done by end of year (NOW). It didn't happen! We foolishly fight for Border Security for other countries - but not for our beloved U.S.A. Not good!" HAPPENING NOW -- please go well, please go well: President Trump is currently meeting with House Republicans as frustration is building over the lack of border wall funding in the short-term funding bill. http://bit.ly/2BuBTCo Where Republicans stand: "Republicans are all over the place on this spending bill. Members who are typically leadership allies are saying they'd vote no on the short term bill... things went sideways fast. People saying they don't want to go over the cliff w/ out the wall if Trump won't sign the bill." | If the House comes to an agreement and passes the short-term spending bill, it will then go to President Trump's desk. There is still a chance that President Trump will veto the measure. The mood in the White House this morning -- some nervousness: "I've spoken to multiple senior White House aides this morning who have no idea what the plan is for the stopgap spending bill.
