NEWS THIS MORNING

Jim Jordan accused of not reporting sexual abuse as a college wrestling coach:

Via NBC's Corky Siemaszko, "Rep. Jim Jordan, the powerful Republican congressman from Ohio, is being accused by former wrestlers he coached more than two decades ago at Ohio State University of failing to stop the team doctor from molesting them and other students." How Jordan reacted: Jordan repeatedly said he didn't know about the abuse, but some former members of the wrestling team say Jordan knew. https://nbcnews.to/2KNOC6M

NEW — REACTION FROM JORDAN’S SPOKESMAN:

"Congressman Jordan never saw any abuse, never heard about any abuse, and never had any abuse reported to him during his time as a coach at Ohio State," Jordan’s spokesman Ian Fury told The Hill in a statement. "He has not been contacted by investigators about the matter but will assist them in any way they ask, because if what is alleged is true, the victims deserve a full investigation and justice."

KEEP IN MIND ABOUT JORDAN:

Jordan is a co-founder of the powerful House Freedom Caucus and is considering a run for Speaker of the House. https://trib.in/2Kwsgdy

Why flags are at half-staff today:

President Trump ordered American flags at half-staff to honor the victims of the Capital Gazette shooting. From press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders: "Last night, as soon as the President heard about the request from the [Annapolis] Mayor he ordered the flags to be lowered." http://bit.ly/2KFPI7K

MEANWHILE:

A man in Texas was arrested after reportedly threatening to burn down a TV station. Details: http://bit.ly/2NpKdbQ

It's Tuesday -- tomorrow is the best day of the year! I'm Cate Martel with a quick recap of the morning and what's coming up. Send comments, story ideas and events for our radar to cmartel@thehill.com, @CateMartel and on Facebook.

PROGRAMMING NOTE: The 12:30 Report will be off tomorrow for the holiday. We'll be back on Thursday to catch you up on everything. Eat a slice of pie for me! :)

So many motorcycles will be made here. It'll be motorcycle week every week:

President Trump said his team is working with motorcycle manufacturers to move production to the United States. He tweeted: "Now that Harley-Davidson is moving part of its operation out of the U.S., my Administration is working with other Motor Cycle companies who want to move into the U.S. Harley customers are not happy with their move - sales are down 7% in 2017. The U.S. is where the Action is!" http://bit.ly/2z6WZZB

GETTING TRACTION

The not-so-fun part of being a public figure

A woman confronted Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt at a restaurant while he was eating lunch. What she told him: "We deserve to have somebody at the EPA who actually does protect our environment, someone who believes in climate change and takes it seriously for the benefit of all us, including our children. I would urge you to resign before your scandals push you out." http://bit.ly/2z38u44

Watch the video of the woman's interaction with Pruitt: Keep in mind: She's holding her young child. http://bit.ly/2z38u44

WHILE WE'RE ON THE TOPIC OF PRUITT -- YET ANOTHER CONTROVERSY:

Via The Washington Post's Juliet Eilperin, Josh Dawsey and Brady Dennis, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt routinely asked his assistants to put his hotel reservations on their personal credit cards. "In one instance, [an assistant] was stuck with a bill of roughly $600 for a booking she had made for the administrator's family during the transition." https://wapo.st/2tR5inm

NEW TIDBIT ABOUT PRUITT:

Via The Hill's Miranda Green and Timothy Cama, "About half of the 40 letters and notes sent by Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt have gone to the heads of prominent industry groups, according to documents released under a Freedom of Information Act request by the Sierra Club." For example: Notes addressed to BP, Chevron Corp., the American Petroleum Institute and the American Gas Association. http://bit.ly/2KJtOgv

OK, so we appreciate your enthusiasm for public service, but...:

Via The Hill's Sylvan Lane, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) has an enthusiastic approach to opposing President Trump and while that may give her brownie points from young liberals, some colleagues worry she may not be the right messenger for the Democratic Party. How so: Her most recent remarks encouraging public confrontation with Cabinet members concerned some Democrats about how Waters would handle increased authority if her party gains control in November. For example: House and Senate minority leaders Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) condemned her remarks. But: Her supporters say she knows she's pushing the envelope and thinks Democrats have been playing "nice guy politics" for too long. http://bit.ly/2lRyy9d

WHAT STARTED THIS NEWS CYCLE:

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked to leave a Virginia restaurant because of the Trump administration's family separation policy on the border. Waters urged Trump opponents to confront more administration officials in public.

IN OTHER NEWS

Why Chuck Schumer is stressed:

Via The Hill's Alexander Bolton, Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) is under pressure from liberals to block any Supreme Court nominee who might overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision that established a woman's right to an abortion. What liberal activists are telling their supporters to do: http://bit.ly/2u1hUYm

The agency that drew the short end of the stick:

Via The Hill's Nathaniel Weixel, "President Trump's 'zero tolerance' immigration policy has left the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) scrambling to contain what's quickly becoming a public relations nightmare. While HHS didn't write the policy, the agency is responsible for implementing the most controversial aspect: housing the children separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border." How HHS is handling the crisis: http://bit.ly/2u0eoxm

NEW LAWSUIT:

Five migrant children have filed a complaint with the Trump administration, claiming they were forced to take medication while detained. http://bit.ly/2KGm2qN
