Only one turkey is pardoned -- what happens to the other?: It's not what you think. The other turkey is the alternate. Fast facts for Peas: Coming in at 39 lbs., Peas has a "boisterous" gobble, enjoys listening to Brad Paisley and loves eating popcorn. Fast facts for Carrots: Coming in at a robust 41 lbs., we also have Carrots! Carrots's gobble is "strong and confident." Carrots also enjoys eating M&M's and telemark snow skiing in its spare time. You're blocked: |
Via NBC's Adam Edelman, a federal judge blocked the Trump administration from denying asylum to migrants who enter the United States illegally. From the judge in San Francisco, Calif.: "Whatever the scope of the President's authority, he may not rewrite the immigration laws to impose a condition that Congress has expressly forbidden." https://nbcnews.to/2A7owr8 What sparked this: A few weeks ago, the president made it harder for immigrants to claim asylum if they crossed the U.S.-Mexico border between the formal entry points. https://nbcnews.to/2A7owr8 |

This is going to make campaign rally chants awkward for a lil while: |
Via The Washington Post's Carol D. Leonnig and Josh Dawsey, Ivanka Trump used her personal account to send hundreds of White House emails. How long this went on: For much of 2017. Why this matters for her father: "The discovery alarmed some advisers to President Trump, who feared that his daughter's practices bore similarities to the personal email use of Hillary Clinton, an issue he made a focus of his 2016 campaign." I.e.: "Crooked Hillary." How Ivanka Trump reacted when she found this out: "Some aides were startled by the volume of Ivanka Trump's personal emails -- and taken aback by her response when questioned about the practice. She said she was not familiar with some details of the rules, according to people with knowledge of her reaction." What happened to the emails: Ivanka Trump turned over the work-related emails to be stored with White House records. The full story -- trust me, it won't be the last you hear of this: https://wapo.st/2OYwPuU |

REACTION FROM FORMER TRUMP AIDE MARC SHORT: |
Former White House legislative director Marc Short said Ivanka Trump's use of a personal email was "hypocritical" and that it "looks bad." Short then explained differences from Hillary Clinton's email server: "There are a couple of important distinctions to make. One is that Hillary Clinton did delete over 30,000 emails. She did have IT specialists come put a server in her home, and there was classified information as Secretary of State that she put on there." http://bit.ly/2r4DmL3 |

We have an eager beaver in Massachusetts: |
A Massachusetts mayor was one of the first people in line to buy marijuana at the opening of the state's first recreational marijuana store. Which mayor: Northampton Mayor David Narkewicz. What he's going to do with it: "I am actually going to probably preserve it and display it ... because it is historically significant," he said. http://bit.ly/2Kjehol |

This is pretty crazy-- a 'get rich quick' scheme among some Trump fans: |
Via The Daily Beast's Will Sommer, some of President Trump's biggest fans are convinced he will make them millionaires through the nearly worthless Iraqi currency. https://thebea.st/2DysFrh For example: One Trump supporter bought millions of Iraqi dinars, currently worth less than $0.001. What sparked this: During a 2017 press conference, the president said all currencies will soon "be on a level playing field. What Trump actually meant is the trade imbalances with China, but some Trump supporters interpreted this as the dinar investment scheme." How many people have invested in the dinar?: "While it's difficult to measure how many Americans have invested in the dinar, court papers related to dinar scams often mention millions of dollars worth of dinar purchases. Dinar holders regularly tweet at Trump and various Iraqi government Twitter accounts, demanding to know when they'll finally enact the 'RV' that will let the money flow in." How the scam works: https://thebea.st/2DysFrh |

The Jim Acosta saga is (hopefully) over: |
Yesterday, the White House dropped its effort to revoke CNN reporter Jim Acosta's press credentials. The White House wrote in a letter to Acosta: "Having received a formal reply from your counsel to our letter of November 16, we have made a final determination in this process: your hard pass is restored." http://bit.ly/2KlQ4gW |

A potential 2020 challenge for the GOP: |
Via The Hill's Alexander Bolton, "There are growing signs that the economy will slow substantially over the next two years, posing a significant problem for President Trump and Republicans who highlighted economic growth heading into the 2018 midterm elections." What to expect: http://bit.ly/2qS98L4 |

Haha, The New Yorker had fun with the turkey pardon: |
"In a startling break with Thanksgiving tradition, Donald J. Trump refused to pardon the White House turkey after claiming that it was working as a secret operative of the billionaire George Soros. A group of fourth graders from Bethesda, Maryland, who had gathered on the White House lawn for the annual turkey-pardoning ceremony appeared unprepared for the anti-Soros outburst that Trump unleashed on the Thanksgiving bird."
