BREAKING

New allegations against Kavanaugh:

Attorney Michael Avenatti just released the identity of his client who is accusing Brett Kavanaugh of being present when a group of boys "gang raped" her at a party in 1982. Who: Julie Swetnick claims she attended several house parties where Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge were present. Note: Swetnick does not accuse Kavanaugh of attacking her but says he was "present" at the party where she was drugged and attacked. Details: http://bit.ly/2QZKV1d

From Julie Swetnick: "I witnessed Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh drink excessively and engage in highly inappropriate conduct, including being overly aggressive with girls and not taking 'No' for an answer. This conduct included the fondling and grabbing of girls without their consent.  I also witnessed efforts by Mark Judge, Brett Kavanaugh and others to cause girls to become inebriated and disoriented so they could then be 'gang raped' in a side room or bedroom by a 'train' of numerous boys ... These boys included Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh ... In approximately 1982, I became the victim of one of these 'gang' or 'train' rapes where Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh were present." http://bit.ly/2QZKV1d

Read the sworn testimony that Avenatti tweeted this morning: http://bit.ly/2Q4dUj8

REACTION FROM THE SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE:

The committee is reviewing these new allegations. Timing: This comes just a day before Kavanaugh and his first accuser Christine Blasey Ford are set to testify. http://bit.ly/2xP98OZ

REACTION FROM KAVANAUGH:

Judge Brett Kavanaugh said in a statement: “This is ridiculous and from the Twilight Zone. I don't know who this is and this never happened." (Via Bloomberg’s Jennifer Epstein) http://bit.ly/2xGugYB

LATEST WITH THE KAVANAUGH CONFIRMATION

Meanwhile, has anyone seen my planner from 2017?:

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh submitted his personal calendar from the summer of 1982 to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

What it includes: Dates for college interviews, sporting events, "beach week" and weekends that he was grounded.

Why he released his calendar: To prove he didn't attend the party at which Christine Blasey Ford alleges he sexually assaulted her.

Read his actual 1982 calendar --> http://bit.ly/2NE4PRc

Lol -- I can't believe this is how we've all been spending our morning:

WHEN TO EXPECT THE FINAL SENATE CONFIRMATION VOTE:

A full Senate vote could be scheduled for next week. http://bit.ly/2DG32Xw

On the president's time travel wish list...:

President Trump said he would have preferred if the Senate had confirmed Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh before the sexual misconduct allegations came out. In Trump's words: "They could've pushed it through two-and-a-half weeks ago, and you wouldn't be talking about it right now, which is frankly what I would've preferred, but they didn't do that." http://bit.ly/2QabG1E

NEW DETAIL -- KAVANAUGH'S SECOND ACCUSER WILLING TO TESTIFY:

The lawyer for Deborah Ramirez, who has accused Kavanaugh of sexual assault, said his client is willing to testify, but says he hasn't spoken with the Senate Judiciary Committee yet. http://bit.ly/2NLQHpm

Feinstein has a new beef with Kavanaugh, and it has nothing to do with the sexual assault allegations:

Via Politico's Josh Gerstein, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, "is accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of misleading the Senate about his handling of grand jury secrets while working for independent counsel Kenneth Starr two decades ago." Details: https://politi.co/2OOLZ6E

NEWS THIS A.M.

U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A:

This morning, President Trump touted the state of the economy. He tweeted: "Consumer confidence hits an 18 year high, close to breaking the all-time record. A big jump from last 8 years. People are excited about the USA again! We are getting Bigger and Richer and Stronger. WAY MORE TO GO!" http://bit.ly/2ORSDJj

WHAT SPARKED THIS TWEET:

The Conference Board's consumer confidence index was released Tuesday and shows consumer confidence is the highest in almost 18 years. http://bit.ly/2OOT1br

This morning -- China is the new Russia:

During a United Nations Security Council meeting this morning, President Trump accused China of attempting to meddle in the November midterms. In Trump's words: "Regrettably, we found that China has been attempting to interfere in our upcoming 2018 election. They do not want me or us to win because I am the first president ever to challenge China on trade." http://bit.ly/2ObSAuD

New EPA, who dis?:

Via The New York Times's Coral Davenport and Roni Caryn Rabin, "The Environmental Protection Agency has put its Office of Children's Health Protection director Dr. Ruth Etzel on administrative leave." Why: Critics say it could be part of an effort to minimize the position and shut down the office. Keep in mind: This is pretty unusual. http://bit.ly/2OcGyRP

LATEST ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL

All I can think of is Elaine from Seinfeld deciding which men are 'spongeworthy'

--> http://bit.ly/2N4BoT8:

Via The Hill's Melanie Zanona, "Republicans are performing critical triage to their midterm spending strategy as they seek to hold on to their House majority in a difficult midterm year." How the GOP is doing that: Pulling the plug on some of its candidates who have a tough race. Why: To be strategic about spending. http://bit.ly/2Dx26Eu
