Left brings campaign against gunmakers to Wall Street
Activists on the left are opening a new front in their campaign to undercut gun manufacturers, this time putting pressure on financial companies and pension funds.

Progressives have already seen great success pressuring retailers to limit gun sales, with a slew of chains in recent days pledging that they will not sell certain rifles to people under the age of 21.

Now activists are hoping to deal a bigger blow to gun manufacturers by getting the financial world to turn against them. But the effort could be a heavy lift, with no signs that investment houses will bow to the pressure.

Five things to watch as AIPAC kicks off
Leaders from around Washington are set to gather at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee's (AIPAC) annual policy conference starting Sunday amid new questions over the U.S. push for Mideast peace.

This year's event includes appearances by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Vice President Pence and a host of congressional leaders, and follows President Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

But the AIPAC confab also comes as Trump and Netanyahu both face growing legal investigations in their respective countries, while the president's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner – his point person on a Mideast peace deal – finds himself in a political firestorm.

Left faces off with Dem establishment in primary fights
An energized left is taking on the Democratic establishment in primaries across the country, deepening the fissures within the party.

Progressives are riding a groundswell of enthusiasm since President Trump took office as Democrats look to take the House and defend Senate seats in 2018.

But progressive activists are also challenging fellow Democrats in the hopes of reshaping the party in a significant way after their 2016 defeat. Progressives are championing efforts that urge Democrats to embrace policies like single-payer health care, $15 minimum wage and unequivocal support for women's reproductive rights.
