TALK OF THE MORNING:
Let's play...Gary Cohn or Kevin O'Leary (Mr. Wonderful on 'Shark Tank')?!:
I'll call the creators of 'The Parent Trap.' / Credit: Getty

Gary Cohn, President Trump's top economic adviser, is resigning amid growing rifts over the direction of the administration's economic policy. http://bit.ly/2FpglrL

Why? -- The straw that broke the camel's back: Trump insisting on steep tariffs on steel and aluminum, which Cohn opposed and had spent the better part of the past year trying to stop. http://bit.ly/2FpglrL

Was this surprising?: No, but his actual exit was abrupt. Cohn was noticeably absent from a press conference with Trump and Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders took his reserved seat instead.

Tidbit -- Cohn almost resigned last summer: Cohn reportedly came close to resigning after the Charlottesville episode, which may also have damaged his standing with the president. But he chose to stay as Trump pursued tax reform in the fall, which ended with a significant victory for the White House.

All this talk of a 'trade war' -- what that means: CNNMoney's Daniel Shane breaks down why Wall Street is worried about Trump's tariffs and the prospect of retaliation from other countries. http://cnnmon.ie/2Hd8GNs

How the stock market opened this morning: U.S stocks fell at the opening bell this morning as markets reacted to the resignation of White House National Economic Council Director Gary Cohnhttp://bit.ly/2Fypul2

What this could mean for U.S. policy: Economist Gregory Daco on why Cohn's departure marks a crucial moment for U.S. economic policy. http://bit.ly/2HeBp4G

STORMY DANIELS IS BACK:

A storm's a-brewin' (Get it? Get it?):

On NBC's "Today," the lawyer for adult film star Stormy Daniels said today that his client had a sexual relationship with President Trump and is looking to disclose the truth about the encounter. Reasoning: "At this point, in light of the amount of misinformation that Mr. Cohen has put out there to The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and others, I think it's time for her to tell her story and for the public to decide who's telling the truth," attorney Michael Avenatti said, referencing Trump's personal attorney, Michael Cohen. http://bit.ly/2FjSAVV

Why Stormy Daniels's lawyer was on TV: Yesterday, Daniels filed a civil suit against President Trump in an effort to void a nondisclosure agreement between the two. Her claim: The nondisclosure agreement is not valid because Trump never signed the deal. http://bit.ly/2IbHlfM

Photocopies of the actual suit: http://bit.ly/2FjRWUb

THE LATEST WINTER STORM:

^^Well...two storms are a-brewin':
Via The Weather Channel, another winter storm is battering the East Coast. Difference from the last nor'easter: "This storm, however, will be much snowier along the I-95 corridor, including near the Boston-New York City-Philadelphia corridor." The latest projections: http://wxch.nl/2Hbftr5
FLIGHT CANCELLATIONS:
Via The Washington Post's Luz Lazo, "Airlines canceled or delayed thousands of flights as a another late-winter storm threatened to hit the Northeast Corridor on Wednesday, with snow and wind likely to make travel difficult and dangerous." Details: http://wapo.st/2G2PuCS

IN OTHER NEWS:

This is awkward -- you say potato:

CNN's Chris Cuomo confronted Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) for slamming his Democratic rival for going by a nickname, noting that Cruz also doesn't go by his given name. Cruz's real name: Rafael Edward Cruz. His rival: Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas) for going by Beto instead of Robert. Watch: http://bit.ly/2Ibcd0i

Turnout in Texas: Yesterday, Texas Democrats more than doubled their primary election turnout from four years ago. http://bit.ly/2oN05KQ

Strong day for female candidates: More than half of the women running either won their primaries or advanced to runoffs, according to The Associated Press. http://bit.ly/2D915wZ

Mississippi's the GOP's new Alabama:
Via The Hill's Alexander Bolton, Sen. Thad Cochran's (R-Miss.) impending retirement has opened a new path for Tea Party firebrand Chris McDaniel to reach the Senate -- a prospect that Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) desperately wants to avoid. Republican leaders question if McDaniel can win the general. Think: *cough* ROY MOORE *cough* Why the GOP is worried: http://bit.ly/2G4OTAI
I CAN'T HEAR YOU!:
Via The Hill's Reid Wilson, a flood of legislative candidates is pointing to enthusiasm in both political parties. Details: An analysis of the 12 states where filing deadlines have come and gone shows an unprecedented number of candidates seeking public office this year -- and a relative lack of uncontested races, where a general election features only one candidate on the ballot. http://bit.ly/2Fn0QjO
