Sanders, Harris set to criss-cross Iowa

Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) will be in Iowa over the next few days to campaign for Democratic candidates, giving them a chance to distinguish themselves in front of voters in a state that will hold the first-in-the-nation caucuses in February 2020.

Saudis say journalist killed in ‘fight’ at consulate; 18 detained
Saudi Arabia acknowledged Friday that U.S.-based journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who had been missing for more than two weeks after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, is dead.

According to a press release translated by The New York Times, the Saudi government said that 18 Saudi nationals have been arrested and are being interrogated in connection to the case.

In the statement, the kingdom's public prosecutor claimed that a physical altercation broke out between Khashoggi and men inside the consulate resulting in a “a fistfight that led to his death.”

HUD official quits amid Interior Department watchdog controversy
A top political official at the Department of Housing and Urban Development resigned Friday after HUD Secretary Ben Carson said she was slated to be the Interior Department’s top watchdog, apparently by mistake.

HUD spokesman Raffi Williams said late Friday that Suzanne Israel Tufts, HUD’s assistant secretary for administration, “has offered her resignation and it has been accepted.”
