2020 has officially staaarted *evil laugh that turns into loud sobbing*:

President Trump will announce this week that he plans to run for reelection in 2020. How we know: Conservative news aggregator Matt Drudge made the announcement this morning on his website. Who Trump plans to hire as his campaign manager: His former digital adviser, Brad Parscale, who is presently spearheading a pro-Trump outside group called America First Policies. http://bit.ly/2oEXeTp

LATEST ON THE FLORIDA SHOOTING:

'I said that? Me? Prove it -- and Twitter doesn't count':
Via CNN's Jeremy Diamond, Jim Acosta and Eli WatkinsPresident Trump is moving away from his original call to increase the minimum age to buy some guns in the wake of the Florida shooting. http://cnn.it/2FBJ8do

45 calls is much different than 23 calls...:
The Broward County Sheriff's office received almost twice as many calls about accused school shooter Nikolas Cruz or his brother between 2008 and 2017 than the office has claimed. How many: The sheriff's office insisted there were no more than 23 calls, but records show at least 45 calls. http://cnn.it/2orgSTy

Happening this morning -- what kind of cookie do we give the mouse? Store bought? Homemade? Dean & DeLuca?:
Via The Hill's Mike Lillis, Democrats met this morning in the Capitol to discuss their next steps on gun control as they wrestle with how to move forward. Their issue: Some Democrats are warning that reaching too far -- like an assault weapon ban -- could drive voters away in swing districts in November. Their plan: http://bit.ly/2GQvtPc

THIS MORNING:

Still a no, but thanks for asking!:
Via The Hill's Lisa Hagen, Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) has decided not to run for reelection in 2018 after reconsidering his decision to retire. Reasoning: From Corker's chief of staff Todd Womack: "Over the past several months, Senator Corker has been encouraged by people across Tennessee and in the Senate to reconsider his decision not to seek re-election. Based on the outpouring of support, we spent the last few days doing our due diligence and a clear path for re-election was laid out. However, at the end of the day, the senator believes he made the right decision in September and will be leaving the Senate when his term expires at the end of 2018." http://bit.ly/2F9IqWM

He's baaack:

This morning, President Trump tweeted a series of quotes arguing there was a lack of evidence showing collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. The president quoted Jonathan Turley and former special counsel Ken Starr, before saying in a subsequent tweet: "WITCH HUNT." Full series of tweets: http://bit.ly/2GOkCoQ

After giving up Twitter for a brief, two-day kind of Lent: CNN's Brian Stelter tweeted, "Trump is back after a 2-day Twitter break. Notably, this quote he's sharing is from a 2-day-old Fox And Friends interview." http://bit.ly/2F6iWKe

IN OTHER NEWS:

Talked about -- Miss hearing about the Mooch?!:
McClatchy's Katie Glueck writes, "How Anthony Scaramucci became the darling of the Orthodox Jewish community." How: "Some in [the] relatively small, conservative-leaning community [keep] tapping him for awards and keynote speaking slots, shepherding him around the Holy Land and speaking about his pro-Israel bona fides in glowing terms." Best line: "He's an Italian guy through and through," said Matt Brooks, the executive director of the Republican Jewish Coalition, "but he's got a Jewish soul." http://bit.ly/2CMvVey

Republicans: 'Remember passing tax reform? Yeah, more of that.':
Via The Hill's Scott Wong, top conservatives have a message for GOP leadership: Tax cuts alone won't stave off a Democratic wave in November. While they have disagreements about what should come next on the 2018 agenda, conservatives say Republicans need to keep their foot on the gas pedal. Like what issues?: Infrastructure, criminal justice reform and pharmaceutical reform. http://bit.ly/2EVxI7c
