LATEST WITH THE CANCELED NORTH KOREA MEETING

Trump on the canceled meeting -- Psych!:

A day after President Trump announced his planned June 12 summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will no longer happen, he takes it back. He said this morning: "We'll see what happens. It could even be the 12th. They very much want to do it. We'd like to do it. We're going to see what happens." I.e.: Don't take today's comments or yesterday's comments that seriouslyhttp://bit.ly/2INRnE7

'GOOD NEWS' CAN BE DEFINED IN A FEW WAYS:

Defense Secretary James Mattis added, "We have got some, possibly some good news on the Korea summit, where it may, if our diplomats can pull it off, may have it back on." http://bit.ly/2KUj5iS

Now that the dust has settled a bit, here's what to know about the (for now) canceled Kim Jong Un summit:

Via The Hill's Rebecca KheelPresident Trump's canceled summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has left a sense of unease over the country's future.

FIVE TAKEAWAYS:
  1. The likelihood of war has increased.
  2. The cancelation could be a negotiating tactic.
  3. Rocky relations with China may have had ripple effect.
  4. Both sides may have gotten cold feet.
  5. Trump's hawks are flexing their muscles.

BREAKING

Harvey Weinstein is arrested:

Via The New York Times's Benjamin Mueller, this morning, former Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein turned himself him and was arrested on charges of rape. https://nyti.ms/2KRd6M0

How Weinstein is pleading: Weinstein's lawyer says he is pleading "not guilty." His lawyer told reporters: "We intend to move very quickly to dismiss these charges. We believe they are constitutionally flawed. We believe they are not factually supported by the evidence, and we believe that at the end of the process Mr. Weinstein will be exonerated." https://washex.am/2s6CGFB

How the arrest went down: "Around 7:30 a.m., Mr. Weinstein walked into a police station house in Lower Manhattan, flanked by several sex crimes detectives. Toting three large books under his right arm, he looked up without saying a word as a crush of reporters and onlookers yelled, 'Harvey!' "

Details of the charges: "He was expected be arraigned on charges of first-degree rape and third-degree rape in one case, and first-degree criminal sex act in another, law enforcement officials said."

Details on the allegations: https://cnn.it/2kuepp3

Tidbit: Weinstein was taken to court, "his arms pinned behind him in several sets of handcuffs to accommodate his girth, the police said."

Video of Weinstein surrendering to police -- yikes: https://cnn.it/2IPnkM2

Then -- video of Weinstein leaving the station in handcuffs: https://cnn.it/2sgzhDI

Weinstein's bond: "Weinstein's bond was set at $10 million. He'll be required to wear a GPS monitoring system and is only allowed to travel within New York state or Connecticut. He also surrendered his passport." https://cnn.it/2kuepp3

WHAT'S ON THE PRESIDENT'S MIND THIS MORNING

If you're going to spy on me, at least check out my drafts on Twitter. They're gold:

This morning, President Trump once again raised the claim that the FBI spied on his presidential campaign, suggesting that the bureau used a top-secret informant to surveil his team long before it began investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election. http://bit.ly/2KQ1mJx

HAPPENING TODAY

Why you're getting lots of emails about data privacy:

May 25 is the day the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation takes effect. What this means: Companies in Europe must alert users to how their private data is used. Many companies extended this alert to users in the United States. What this means for you: https://cnb.cx/2LuT8Yz

LATEST WITH THE RUSSIA INVESTIGATION

New development -- Cohen's Russia meeting 11 days before the election:

Via The New York Times's William K. Rashbaum, Ben Protess and Mike McIntire, "Eleven days before the presidential inauguration last year, a billionaire Russian businessman with ties to the Kremlin visited Trump Tower in Manhattan to meet with Donald J. Trump's personal lawyer and fixer, Michael D. Cohen, according to video footage and another person who attended the meeting." What they discussed: Russia relations with the U.S. https://nyti.ms/2GOAuY6

Two thumbs up for Bob:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said he still backs special counsel Robert Mueller after yesterday's classified briefing. McConnell said on NPR: "The two investigations going on that I think will give us the answers to the questions that you raise -- the [inspector general] investigation in the Justice Department and the Mueller investigation. I support both of them, and I don't really have anything to add to this subject based upon the Gang of Eight briefing that we had today, which was classified." http://bit.ly/2kr7kpd

ON CAPITOL HILL

If Senate Republicans are looking for a clever way to protest, they can park cars with their alarms set outside the White House on a windy day:

Republican senators are scrambling to shut down President Trump's idea to impose tariffs on imported cars. Which senators -- for example: Finance Committee chairman Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.). Hatch warned the tariff would backfire on American families. How this issue is playing out: http://bit.ly/2LuXezZ

SPEAKING OF CARS -- ANNOUNCED TODAY:

Fiat Chrysler is recalling 4.8 million vehicles for a glitch that prevents drivers from deactivating cruise control. Which cars: https://cnnmon.ie/2KViM7H

Just now -- hoooboy:

Via Politico's Rachael Bade, Alex Isenstadt and Kyle Cheney, "Freshman Rep. Tom Garrett(R-Va.) and his wife turned the congressman's staff into personal servants, multiple former aides told Politico -- assigning them tasks from grocery shopping to fetching the congressman's clothes to caring for their pet dog, all during work hours. ... They were even expected to watch and clean up after Sophie, their Jack Russell-Pomeranian mix, the aides said." Details: https://politi.co/2IOZhkI

Immigration -- that's a June problem:

Via The Hill's Mike Lillis and Scott Wong, "House Republicans left Washington for their 11-day Memorial Day recess without solving the vexing immigration issue that is dividing them just months before the midterm elections." Keep in mind: "The effort by GOP centrists to force immigration votes gained steam before Thursday's exit, suggesting Republican leaders may soon be forced to address legislation protecting the so-called Dreamers, perhaps as early as next month." How many signatures does the petition need to bypass Speaker Ryan: Just five more Republicans need to sign on. http://bit.ly/2KWaCvV

NOTABLE TWEETS:

Just another day in Washington, D.C.
