What to know about the battle for the Senate: |
| The situation for Democrats: "Democrats are playing defense in 10 states that Trump carried in 2016, and where he remains popular. They'll need to run the table -- flipping two GOP seats and holding on to their own vulnerable incumbents -- if they want to win the Senate." If they lose even one seat they are defending, they would have to win in three of their four potential pick up opportunities: Nevada, Arizona, Tennessee and Texas. The situation for Republicans: Republicans have only one vulnerable incumbent, Sen. Dean Heller (Nev.), the only GOP senator running in a state that Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton won in 2016.
Who has a better chance of controlling the Senate: Republicans.
But why Republicans shouldn't be extremely confident: "Even with a promising GOP map, Doug Heye, a strategist and former spokesman for the Republican National Committee, said the battle for the Senate wasn't likely to feature many 'blowouts anyways,' meaning several races may very well be decided in the remaining days." In her words: "We have about 30 percent of women who take that journey are sexually abused, 17 percent of men.
