TALK OF THE MORNING

This was a pretty spooky surprise for the GOP:

Via The Hill's Melanie Zanona and Juliegrace Brufke, "President Trump's plan to end birthright citizenship has tossed a grenade into the final stretch of the midterm elections, roiling centrist Republicans and further endangering a House majority already at risk of slipping away." How this could play out: It could boost GOP Senate candidates, but harm House Republicans' chances in suburban swing districts. What to expect: http://bit.ly/2Q7NQ73

Happy Halloweeeeeen!! Beware of all of my bad Halloween puns today. ;) I'm Cate Martel with a quick recap of the morning and what's coming up. Send comments, story ideas and events for our radar to cmartel@thehill.com, @CateMartel and on Facebook.

NEWS THIS MORNING

The president really has a 'Sixth Sense' about some things:

President Trump said he was "treated so warmly" when traveling to Pittsburgh to meet with victims of the synagogue shooting. Oh and: Trump used his first public comments about the Pittsburgh trip to air his grievances against the media. http://bit.ly/2P2HAB2

Trump's full tweet "Melania and I were treated very nicely yesterday in Pittsburgh. The Office of the President was shown great respect on a very sad & solemn day. We were treated so warmly. Small protest was not seen by us, staged far away. The Fake News stories were just the opposite-Disgraceful!" http://bit.ly/2JuPvkG

What happened with the protests: "Hundreds of people marched in solemn protest around the Squirrel Hill neighborhood during Trump's visit on Tuesday, many carrying signs condemning the president's rhetoric." http://bit.ly/2P2HAB2

DURING TRUMP'S VISIT:

Trump met with the widow of one of the 11 synagogue shooting victims during his visit. Details: http://bit.ly/2OYwkpe

New detail on Khashoggi's alleged murder:

Via The Associated Press, "A Turkish prosecutor says Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was strangled as soon as he entered the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul as part of a premeditated killing, and his body was dismembered and disposed of." http://bit.ly/2Q8Ol0R

T-MINUS 6 DAYS

Pelosi on the House: 'I put a spell on you. And now you're mine'

--> http://bit.ly/2Deng9p ;)

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) predicted that Democrats will retake control of the House in the midterm elections. "Let me say this. Up until today, I would've said, 'If the election were held today, we would win.' What now I'm saying is, 'We will win.' " http://bit.ly/2RpTOQX

There's millennial pink -- and Democrats are hoping millennials like blue, too:

Democrats are banking on young voters to help their chances in the midterms.  Why Dems have their hopes up: "A survey released this week by Harvard University's Institute of Politics found that about two-thirds of likely young voters said their preference is for the midterms to produce a Democratic-controlled Congress." And whether young voters will turn out: "The survey found that 40 percent of 18- to 29-year-olds said they will definitely vote in the upcoming congressional elections." http://bit.ly/2EVhtaK

HAPPENING TODAY

The caravan stops to rest:

Via The Associated Press, the caravan of migrants has stopped its journey for at least a day to rest. Where the migrants are now: Southern Mexico, about 900 miles from the U.S. How many migrants are estimated to be in the caravan: Around 4,000 people. http://bit.ly/2Og22t9

IN OTHER NEWS

Why Ryan Zinke is having a bad day:

Via The Hill's Miranda Green, "The Interior Department's internal watchdog referred its investigation of Secretary Ryan Zinke to the Department of Justice (DOJ) more than two weeks ago, just days before it was announced that Interior would be getting a Trump political appointee to replace its acting inspector general, two sources confirmed to The Hill." Why that timing raised eyebrows: http://bit.ly/2OhTqSO

Bobbing for Apple:

During an event in New York City yesterday, Apple unveiled a new iPad Pro, Macbook Air and Mac Mini. What to know about each: https://cnn.it/2SA37zo
