Special counsel Robert Mueller had filed a superseding indictment against Manafort accusing him of obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice. http://bit.ly/2LQJGhk

NEWS THIS A.M.

Trump: Deal with it, China:

President Trump announced that the United States would impose tariffs on $50 billion in Chinese products. This sound familiar?: It should. Trump has been threatening this for months. Keep in mind: This move is expected to ramp up tensions with China, and China is a key partner in denuclearizing North Korea. http://bit.ly/2tbn1ot

What the tariffs include: Products in "industries such as aerospace, information and communications technology, robotics, industrial machinery, new materials and automobiles."

What the tariffs don't include: Popular goods purchased by U.S. consumers such as cellphones or televisions, he said.

When the tariffs will start: The first round of tariffs -- on 818 products -- will start on July 6.

What to expect from China: Chinese officials had threatened tariffs on U.S. products if President Trump followed through with the tariffs.

LATE THIS MORNING -- CHINA FIGHTS BACK:

The China's Ministry of Commerce released a highly critical statement. "This move is not only damaging bilateral interests but also undermining the world trade order," the statement said. "China firmly opposes this." China's next steps: "We will immediately introduce taxation measures of the same scale and strength. All the economic and trade achievements previously reached by the two parties will no longer be valid at the same time." http://bit.ly/2LUlQkK

TALK OF THE MORNING -- TRUMP ON "FOX & FRIENDS"

President Trump appeared on Fox & Friends this morning for an impromptu interview on the White House lawn.

'Scum' really is an underappreciated insult:

President Trump slammed the conclusion of the IG report as "wrong." Trump insists: Top FBI officials acted with political bias against him. He said on "Fox & Friends": "If you took a poll at the FBI, [I would win]," Trump said. "I mean the real FBI, not the scum on top." http://bit.ly/2MuKoC8

Did anyone else hear that? Was that Paul Ryan groaning from the other side of the city?:

President Trump said that he would not sign the House GOP's compromise immigration bill, delivering a major blow to Republican leadership's plans. Trump said: "I certainly wouldn't sign the more moderate one. I need a bill that gives this country tremendous border security. I have to have that." http://bit.ly/2JVSDsp

WHY THIS IS A BLOW TO REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP:

"GOP leaders reached an agreement to hold two votes next week on a pair of immigration bills including a compromise immigration bill, which is the product of weeks of negotiations between moderate Republicans and conservatives." http://bit.ly/2JVSDsp

BREAKING -- GOP IN CHAOS:

Via The Hill's Scott Wong and Melanie Zanona, "House GOP leaders decided at the last-minute on Friday morning to scrap a planned whip check on a compromise immigration bill after President Trump said he "certainly" would not sign the legislation." What's next: "Leadership said it will try to whip the bill next week after they seek clarity about what exactly Trump meant in his Friday morning interview..." But: Several top House conservatives declared the 293-page compromise bill "dead on arrival" following Trump's comments Friday. http://bit.ly/2l9Sbss
