| American Urban Radio Networks reporter April Ryan said that Newman had been fired by White House chief of staff John Kelly and was subsequently removed from the White House grounds. Newman pushed back: "I resigned and I didn't do that in the residence, as is being reported," she said. The former contestant on "The Apprentice" denied that she tried to enter President Trump's residence and was escorted off the property, and argued that there would be pictures or video had she confronted Kelly. "If I had confronted John Kelly, who is a very formidable person, it would garner enough attention for anyone in the room to at least take a picture or a video or something," she told ABC. | Timing: GOP leaders plan to hold an initial procedural vote on Monday, a final Senate vote Tuesday and then send the measure to the House for final passage. Two middle-class tax breaks that stayed: Senate negotiators convinced their House counterparts to preserve two important middle-class tax breaks: the deduction on student loan interest and the exclusion for tuition waivers received by graduate students. Corporate tax rate change: The 21 percent corporate rate is slightly higher than the 20 percent rate initially favored by President Trump and House conservatives. But with a tax victory so close, they said the tweak would not be a deal breaker. The final mortgage interest deduction: $750,000, a midpoint compromise between the Senate and House bills. |
